Hello everyone and welcome to my blog Con Amor Adriana! This blog is a lifestyle blog where I will post about my experiences through life and what I have learned along the way. You will find posts about the many adventures I have had from exploring the Chicagoland Area to traveling to other countries.
I am a 20 something from the Chicagoland area. I am currently a Human Resource Professional and a MBA student. I am more on the adventurous side, pretty fearless and I love to take life by the horns. I have learned to experience and embrace life to the fullest, life is too short to do anything but that. You will learn very quickly I always have my plate full and that I am always on the go. I don't get greeted with a "How are you?", instead I get greeted with a "Where are you?". I am a first generation Mexican-American, my mother is from a border-town in Tamaulipas, Mexico and my father is from a small rural town in Oaxaca, Mexico. I am very proud of my roots and I make sure to take advantage of every opportunity that my parents and grandparents gave me.
This blog was inspired by all of you who have said "I live vicariously through you", "You are such an inspiration, how do you do it?" or "You need to document your life, it's so interesting!" So here it is, a little piece of my life for all of you.
You may think "Hmmm, Airplanes, Mezcal & Squats?" Let me explain all three and how they connect to my life.
- Airplanes - I am a traveler, I love to go to new countries and new places. Its honestly a passion of mine. I have been traveling since the young age of 9 months old, and will never ever stop. I will share my experiences with all of you and let you know my honest opinion on everything I have experienced. I will be posting lots of things from when I travel near and far, so hopefully it will inspire each of you to get a passport and go somewhere new.
- Mezcal - Yes, that drink with the worm at the bottom! My father is from Oaxaca and Mezcal has been around me since I was a child, as long as I can remember. At every celebration there was always my grandmother or great-aunts passing around shots of Mezcal. So when I see a bottle all of these memories come rushing back and let's be honest, life should be something to celebrate! So Mezcal to me is a symbol of celebration, life and all of your accomplishments should be celebrated! It also doesn't hurt that during my early twenties I was known as the girl that could drink it without making a face (I was pretty proud of that!) I will post recipes here and there to get you all more familiar with my favorite liquor, don't worry you don't have to take the worm.
- Squats - I can squat like a beast! The heaviest I have ever done was 275 pounds, and lets admit it, what Latina doesn't want a big butt? I have recently started a health journey, and made the choice to live a healthier lifestyle. I will be the first to tell you, being Mexican-American with a full time job and going to Grad School this has been a hard journey. Some days are easier than others, but none the less it has been a journey. I come from an unhealthy family unfortunately, knowing all that runs in my family and that I was going down a dangerous road I had to change quick. I will share my journey along the way, and share what has and has not worked for me. I will say one thing though the journey has been well worth it. I have loved what a difference it has made in my life and its amazing to see what the human body is capable of.
I am ecstatic to start this blog and I hope every single one of you enjoy reading my posts as much as I will enjoy writing them.
Con Amor,
Adriana
